The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for Montgomery County from 6am Tuesday, May 13 until 6am Wednesday May, 14.
Per NWS:
“FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
* WHERE…The District of Columbia, and portions of Maryland, including the following areas, Central and Southeast Montgomery,Frederick, Northwest Montgomery and Washington, and King George
Virginia.* WHEN…Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– A prolonged period of moderate to heavy rain showers with embedded thunderstorms is expected through late tonight. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are likely, with locally higher amounts possible along the eastern slopes of the mountains. This rainfall may lead to scattered instances of flooding.
