Governor Wes Moore issued the following statement Thursday morning after two Israeli Embassy staff members were killed in a shooting outside Washington, DC’s Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday night.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic shooting near the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., where a young Jewish couple, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, lost their lives.
I am grateful for the swift action of law enforcement to bring a suspect in custody.
This heinous act of violence and antisemitism is a stark reminder of the persistent threats faced by Jewish communities.
As Governor, I want to make it unequivocally clear: hate has no home in Maryland.
We stand firmly with our Jewish neighbors, and my administration remains committed to ensuring their safety.
We will continue to work diligently to combat antisemitism and protect all Marylanders from acts of hate.”
