The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) recovered two illegally possessed loaded handguns in separate incidents in Silver Spring and Briggs Chaney, arresting individuals during a trespassing investigation and a traffic stop.
According to MCPD 3D Commander Jason Cokinos, “In the first incident, your @mcpnews 3rd District officers were investigating trespassers in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Rd (Long Branch area of Silver Spring). Officers made contact with an individual who had an active arrest warrant, crack cocaine & fentanyl, and a loaded handgun in his waistband (purple gun).
Later, officers working proactive criminal enforcement in the 14000 block of Castle Blvd (Briggs Chaney area) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. During the stop the driver was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun. Both subjects were transported and booked at Central Processing. Two more guns off the street = lives saved.”
