Members of the Montgomery County Police Department’s (MCPD) Summer Traffic Task Force, along with partnering agencies, are devoting their full time and attention this summer to detecting alcohol-related offenses as the initiative concludes its fourth week.
The Summer Traffic Task Force is a coordinated enforcement campaign running through the end of July. It targets timeframes historically associated with increased impaired driving, including prom season, graduation events, and summer holidays.
Between June 15 and June 21, officers conducted 96 traffic stops, resulting in 11 arrests for driving under the influence (DUI). They also issued 125 citations, 136 warnings, and one equipment repair order.
Since the initiative began on May 21, 2025, officers have conducted 454 traffic stops, resulting in 60 DUI arrests, 551 citations issued, and 646 warnings given.
Participating agencies include the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Maryland State Police (SPIDRE Team and Rockville Barrack), and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police.
