F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre to Reopen in August Following Accessibility and Sound Upgrades

The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre at 603 Edmonston Dr. in Rockville, which has been closed since December 17, 2024, for renovations focused on improving accessibility and sound, including upgrades to comply with ADA standards, will officially reopen at the beginning of August 2025.

Per the City of Rockville: “The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and its social hall will reopen soon following nine months of renovations to improve accessibility and sound.

The theater’s box office is tentatively scheduled to reopen at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4. A performance by the Victorian Lyric Opera Company on Friday, Sept. 5 will mark the theater’s full reopening.

The primary focus of the renovations was to improve safety and compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Changes were made to the lobby, theater house and dressing rooms. The box office and restrooms were expanded and made wheelchair accessible. New speakers were installed in the theater, upgrading the sound experience and making assisted-listening devices more effective. The ADA-seating section was expanded and modified for easier and safer access.”
