Update: Family of Five Displaced After House Fire Causes $250K in Damage

On Thursday night, a fire erupted in a two-story single-family home in the 1800 block of Dellabrooke Farm Lane, off Goldmine Road in Brookeville. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded with approximately 65 firefighters and multiple units.

By 10:47 p.m., smoke was visible from both the garage and the front door, and firefighters confirmed an active fire in the basement. Additional suppression teams were deployed to manage the blaze efficiently.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the origin and cause of the fire were traced to the basement, involving floor joists and sub-flooring, and it was determined to be accidental, likely due to electrical wiring. Damage is estimated to exceed $250,000.

The family of five, including two adults, three children, and a pet, were alerted by working smoke alarms and safely evacuated the home. There were no reported injuries, but the family has been displaced as a result of the damage.
