Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced his 2026 reelection campaign, citing his administration’s record on taxes, employment, crime reduction, and crisis response and pledging bipartisan solutions focused on affordability, education, and ending childhood poverty. The campaign contrasted Moore’s approach with the President’s policies and released a launch video promoting the Moore–Miller ticket’s agenda.
Per the news release distributed on Tuesday, September 9: “Today, Governor Wes Moore announced his 2026 reelection campaign in Maryland, pledging to continue his promise to use bipartisan solutions to build a Maryland where no one is left behind–even amidst the dysfunction and chaos coming out of Washington.
As the President bends over backward to help billionaires at the expense of Maryland families, Governor Moore is running for re-election to stand up for Maryland’s middle class and prove to Washington there’s a better way forward.
“While Trump’s reckless policies make everything cost more, we are showing Marylanders from across the state and party lines that there’s a better way forward to make our economy stronger and everyday life more affordable,” said Governor Wes Moore. “I’m asking Marylanders to reelect Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller and I so we can continue the progress we’ve seen throughout Maryland to make our public schools the best in America, to end childhood poverty once and for all, and to make sure more Marylanders can afford to live here, buy a home, create wealth for their families, and live a secure middle-class life. Together we will keep building a state where we leave no one behind.”
“I am thrilled to stand alongside Governor Wes Moore as we launch our campaign to continue the work to make our public schools the best in America, to end childhood poverty once and for all, and to make sure more Marylanders can afford to live here, buy a home, create wealth for their families, and live a secure middle-class life,” said Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller. “I served in the legislature under the old governor–I know first-hand we can not afford to go back to the old Maryland way where we kick the can down the road for the next person. We need leaders of action, and Governor Moore’s leadership is proof we work across party lines to give people a better way forward and we will continue this work when we earn your vote next November.”
Since taking office, Governor Moore has cut taxes for the middle class, brought Maryland’s unemployment rate to a record low, and made communities across the state safer. The Governor knows there is still work to do and it’s why he is running for re-election to continue his mission of building a Maryland that leaves no one behind.
As part of the announcement, Moore for Maryland released a video announcing the Governor’s re-election bid. The video highlights Governor Moore’s commitment to making life more affordable to Marylanders and his record of turning Maryland’s long-forecasted structural deficit into a surplus, growing Maryland’s economy, bringing down homicides in Baltimore to fifty-year lows, and leading the state through the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.”

What’s going on Maryland …
When I launched my campaign for Governor four years ago, I had never run for political office.
My background is I’m an Army Combat Veteran and I ran one of the largest poverty-fighting organizations in the country.
So I traveled the state, listening to your stories, and sharing mine.
And we all saw the same thing;
The career politicians had been telling us everything was great – when we knew it wasn’t
So we came into office with bold ideas and a new sense of urgency…
We inherited a structural budget deficit – and turned it into a surplus;
Our unemployment rate was one of the nation’s highest; now it’s one of the lowest.
We cut taxes for veterans and the middle class.
And we declared that violent crime can’t and won’t be tolerated … and now homicides in Baltimore are the lowest they’ve been in 50 years.
And when crisis hit, and the Key Bridge collapsed, we rallied. They said it would take eleven months to reopen the Port of Baltimore, we did it in eleven weeks.
But while we stand up for middle-class Marylanders, the President of the United States is bending over backwards for billionaires and big corporations …
firing federal workers, gutting Medicaid, raising prices on everything from electricity to groceries.
The games of Washington are exhausting, and worse, they’re hurting people.
I’m not from that world.
Y’all know I’m a person of action and I’m moving forward fast
… across the state and party lines, to prove to a dysfunctional Washington that there’s a better way forward.
To make our public schools the best in America…To end childhood poverty once and for all… And to make sure more Marylanders can afford to live here, buy a home, create wealth for their families … and live that secure middle-class life.
That’s why I’m asking you to re-elect me Governor.
But first, I need your help. Chip in, follow us, share this video…
But most importantly … join us.
Let’s keep building a state where we leave no one behind.
[We good, everybody? Alright, let’s go…]
