Update: The incident has cleared, and all travel lanes are reopened. Outer Loop delays remain, beginning near MD-650.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision around 4 a.m. on Wednesday on the Outer Loop of I-495 near the American Legion Bridge involving a heavy wrecker towing a tractor-trailer and three vehicles.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer; three people were injured and transported with non-life-threatening injuries, and HazMat crews assisted with a fuel spill.
According to the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC), delays remain, beginning before the I-270 Interchange. An extended closure thru morning rush is expected.
