Park Police are reminding residents that beginning Monday, September 22, Sligo Creek Parkway between Wayne Avenue and Piney Branch Road will be closed for approximately two months to allow Purple Line crews to install tracks across the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Sligo Creek. Pedestrian access through the area will remain open.
According to the Purple Line team, Sligo Creek Parkway south of Wayne Avenue will be closed starting on or about September 22, 2025. The closure is expected to last around two months while crews complete the track installation.
Drivers will still be able to reach Sligo Creek Parkway parking located between Wayne Avenue and Piney Branch Road by using Piney Branch Road. Detour signs will be posted, and officials are urging motorists to follow all on-site signage.
Pedestrian routes will remain accessible, with marked walkways provided to ensure safe passage around the work zone.
The construction map highlights the closure area (marked with a red X), work zones (in yellow), vehicle detour routes (blue arrows), and pedestrian pathways (blue dashed lines).
