Charley Prime Foods in Gaithersburg’s Rio to Rebrand

Charley Prime Foods at 9811 Washington Blvd in Gaithersburg’s Rio is set to rebrand as Charley: A Chesapeake Chophouse & Bar, with the change taking effect on October 13, 2025.

The restaurant teased the shift on social media with the message, “The tides are changing at Charley….⚓️🦀🦪👀 10•13•25.”

According to staff, the refreshed concept will put a greater emphasis on fresh seafood, while still keeping many guest favorites such as the five spice pork shoulder with crispy rice and the rigatoni alla vodka.

Charley Prime, owned by Jackie Greenbaum and Gordon Banks, who also operate Little Coco’s, El Chucho, and Quarry House Tavern, first opened in May 2023 in the former Tara Thai space. Its current menu highlights steaks like filet mignon, New York strip, and a 36-ounce Tomahawk ribeye, alongside house-made pastas, sandwiches such as the Roasted Lamb French Dip, and a robust cocktail program.
