Scott Goldberg Files to Run for Montgomery County Council At-Large Seat

Scott Goldberg has officially filed to appear on the ballot in the Democratic primary for the Montgomery County Council At-Large election, submitting his paperwork at the Montgomery County Board of Elections office in Gaithersburg, where he was joined by his wife, Dara, and their two children.

“With intentionality, creativity, and teamwork, we can move Montgomery County forward by bringing us back to a time when it was more affordable to live here,” said Goldberg. “That involves tackling the cost of housing as well as expanding jobs and wages, which is more important than ever to keep former federal employees in the communities they love. Election Day being June 23ʳᵈ is especially meaningful because it’s the date Dara agreed to marry me and will be the 40ᵗʰ anniversary of surviving open-heart surgery as a young child.”

Goldberg’s announcement comes one day after Councilmember Gabe Albornoz announced his planned resignation from the Council, effective December 1, 2025. Council President Kate Stewart has outlined the process to appoint a temporary replacement, with applications due November 5, public interviews scheduled for December, and a final vote expected on December 9.

Goldberg is an attorney, entrepreneur, and substitute teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools. He serves on the boards of the Montgomery Parks Foundation, YMCA of Silver Spring, Montgomery County Workforce Development, and the Bethesda Chamber of Commerce. He is also a former chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Party and the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board. Goldberg lives in Silver Spring with his family.
