Montgomery County Commission for Women to Host Free Monthly Divorce Seminars

The Montgomery County Commission for Women, in partnership with the County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, will host free monthly Zoom seminars titled “Separation and Divorce: What Do I Need to Know?” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month through June 2026 to explain legal and practical topics such as alimony, property division, protective orders, and filing procedures, with online registration required.

Per the news release: “The Montgomery County Commission for Women (CFW), in partnership with the Montgomery County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, will host a free, monthly virtual seminar, “Separation and Divorce: What Do I Need to Know?” beginning Wednesday, Nov. 5. The series is designed to help residents understand the legal and practical aspects of separation and divorce in Maryland.

Sessions will be held via Zoom from 7–8:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month through June 2026. If the first Wednesday falls on a holiday, the session will be rescheduled, and the new date will be announced in advance. Each session will be led by family law attorneys practicing in Montgomery County who will explain the legal process of separation and divorce. Topics include:
  • Alimony
  • Dispute resolution methods
  • Financial statements
  • Protective orders
  • Property division
  • When and where to file
