MoCo Native Taylor Momsen to Take Stage with Soundgarden at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Taylor Momsen will perform with Soundgarden during their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony next month, according to Alternative Nation. Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron reportedly shared a photo of Momsen rehearsing with the band ahead of the event.

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Saturday, November 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event will stream live on Disney+ and will later air on ABC.

Momsen, known for her breakout roles as Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl, grew up in Potomac. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Bethesda before continuing her education at Herbert Hoover Middle School.

Her career began at just four years old with a national commercial, followed by her feature film debut in The Prophet’s Game alongside Dennis Hopper. Momsen went on to play Gretel in Hansel & Gretel (2002) and Alexandra, the President’s daughter, in Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams. She was later cast in the lead role for the WB pilot Misconceptions, although the show never made it to air.

Momsen was also among the finalists considered for the title role in Hannah Montana, which ultimately went to Miley Cyrus. During this time, she appeared in the Disney film Underdog and the independent drama Paranoid Park, all while still attending Hoover Middle School in Montgomery County.

After four seasons on Gossip Girl, Momsen stepped away from acting to focus on music. She went on to form the rock band The Pretty Reckless, where she serves as lead singer. The group has earned multiple Billboard rock hits, and music continues to be her primary focus today.
