O.A.R. has announced its nationwide “Three Decades Tour” celebrating 30 years as a band, with a stop scheduled for July 24 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD.
O.A.R. began when its founding members met while attending Wootton High School in Rockville. They first played at local venues such as the Grand Marquis in Olney and passed out CDs to classmates before attending Ohio State University, where they continued building a loyal following. The band later returned to Wootton High School for a football field concert in 2001 and went on to achieve major commercial success with the 2008 single “Shattered (Turn the Car Around).”
“When we started playing songs together in a basement in Rockville, Maryland in 1996 we had big dreams of being a real deal touring band. We imagined playing our songs throughout the country, living life on the road, telling our stories to the world,” said frontman Marc Roberge. “The fact we have gotten to live that life for the last 30 years is a testament to the power of our audience. This tour is our way of saying thank you to every fan who made our dreams come true. We cannot wait to see each and every one of you out there on the Three Decades Tour.”
Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, November 7.
