Zaxby’s, the fast-growing chicken chain known for its fried chicken sandwiches, wings, “Zingers,” crinkle-cut fries, and Texas toast, officially opens its first Maryland location on Wednesday, November 12, at 3068 Waldorf Market Place, near the intersection of Route 301 and Berry Road in Waldorf, MD.
The Waldorf restaurant marks Zaxby’s debut in the state and signals the start of a larger Maryland expansion. In October, it was announced that Zaxby’s would enter the Maryland market with restaurants planned for the Eastern Shore and across Baltimore, Howard, and Prince George’s counties.
Zaxby’s was founded in 1990 by childhood friends Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley in Statesboro, Georgia, as a fun, casual restaurant focused on chicken fingers, wings, and signature sauces. After beginning to franchise in 1994, the brand quickly expanded across Georgia and the Southeast, growing into more than 900 locations across a dozen states and continuing to build on its mix of Southern-style comfort food and fast-casual appeal as it expands nationwide.
