Dead Body Located After Bizarre Call To Local Radio Station

Frederick Police say they are investigating after bizarre information first shared on a local radio station led officers to a deceased individual found in a wooded area near Highland Street and Carroll Creek Crossing.

On Friday, November 21st, a listener named “Joe” called into Elliot in the Morning on DC101 and shared a story of seeing a dead body at a campsite in Frederick County 18 days prior. After being asked if he called the police, the caller said he had not contacted authorities at the time, explaining that he “probably” would do it today. He said he had a dream the night before that reminded him to call, and insisted multiple times that he planned to notify police once the show ended.

During the segment, the hosts repeatedly urged him to contact law enforcement immediately, asking him to promise he would make the call as soon as they hung up. The caller then said he would tell police to pick him up so he could drive them to the site to identify the location.

The Frederick Police Department issued the following statement on Friday afternoon: “We are aware of information shared earlier today on a local radio station regarding a deceased individual found in a wooded area off Highland Street and Carroll Creek Crossing. Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division responded, located the individual, and are now conducting an active investigation. At this time, there is no threat to the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Nicole Smith at [email protected] or 301-600-2102.”

We will provide an update if additional verified information becomes available.
