Maryland Natural Resources Police recently recovered a 4.5-foot American alligator from a Prince George’s County home after the owner died and the family contacted authorities for help.
According to a post on the Maryland Natural Resources Police Facebook page, because private possession of alligators is illegal in Maryland, officers arranged for the animal to be safely transported to Eco Adventures in Millersville and later relocated to the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo for permanent care.
Officials encourage the public to report illegally kept exotic animals to the Maryland Natural Resources Police.
