Alert Montgomery issued a severe traffic alert Friday afternoon following a major traffic incident that has closed all lanes of I 270 at MD 121 (Clarksburg Road).
According to reporting from ABC7, the crash stemmed from a police pursuit that began in Frederick. The driver reportedly traveled south in the northbound lanes of I-270 for several miles with children inside the vehicle. Officials say that after the crash, the man exited the car while holding an infant and used the child as a hostage. The suspect was tasered and taken into custody and the child was not hurt.
Per the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office: “Deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit that began on Route 15 in Frederick County after the driver was observed traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. The pursuit continued into Montgomery County, ending on I-270. The occupants of the vehicle have been detained and there is no further threat to the community.”
