Police Recover Firearm, Arrest 15 DUI Suspects During Holiday Enforcement Weekend

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) reports that members of the Alcohol Holiday Task Force focused exclusively on alcohol related enforcement between November 26 and 29, conducting 216 traffic stops and issuing more than 500 combined citations, warnings, and repair orders.

During the operation, officers arrested 15 individuals for DUI, recovered a firearm from an impaired driver involved in an injury hit and run, and made additional criminal arrests and alcohol restriction violations, noting that these figures do not reflect DUI arrests made by regular patrol officers during the same period.

Per MCPD: “Members of the Montgomery County Police Alcohol Holiday Task Force will be devoting their full time and attention to detecting alcohol-related offenses this holiday season.

During the week of November 26–29, officers conducted 216 traffic stops and issued 229 traffic citations, 267 warnings and 54 repair orders. They also issued one criminal citation and five alcohol restriction violations and performed five breath tests and made two criminal arrests. In addition, officers recovered one firearm from an impaired driver involved in a personal-injury hit-and-run collision and arrested 15 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (DUI).

**It should be noted that the above arrests include only those arrests made by task force officers and do not include the additional arrests made by patrol officers in the performance of their duties. Therefore, the overall number of DUI arrests made by officers during this time period is higher.”
