Several new dining options have opened or are on the way to Westfield Wheaton Mall (11160 Veirs Mill Rd):
- Burger King is now open in the mall’s food court, taking over the former McDonald’s space that closed in January. The national chain offers its signature flame-grilled burgers and classic fast-food menu.
- Five Guys has opened in the Costco wing in the former Sydney’s Burgers space. The popular chain is known for its hand-formed burgers, fresh-cut fries cooked in peanut oil, and more than 1,800 locations worldwide, including several across Montgomery County.
- Montgomery County’s Department of Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) recently opened its upgraded retail concept, Oak Barrel & Vine on the upper level of the Costco wing. The store features curated spirits, locally made products, expanded small-format offerings, a dedicated non-alcoholic section, streamlined queue lines, and improved accessibility.
- Signage is up announcing that Wetzel’s Pretzels is “baking soon.” The pretzel chain, which is also preparing to open a new location at Westfield Montgomery Mall, is known for its hand-rolled, oven-baked pretzels, Wetzel Dogs, cheesy Dog Bites, and Pizza Bitz.
- Several other restaurants opened earlier this year. Popeyes reopened after a 2024 remodel and transition to new management. Finger Licking SoulFood, a Jamaican-style concept that began as a Frederick County food truck, moved into the former WiseGuy Pizza space, and Pollo Campero has opened in the location previously occupied by Moe’s Southwest Grill.
- Upcoming Event: The PJ Masks will be making a special appearance at Westfield Wheaton next week, offering families the chance to meet the popular children’s characters in person. The event will take place on Saturday, December 13 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the lower level in the Target wing, and is free and open to the public. Children and families will be able to take photos, say hello, and collect hugs from the costumed heroes, with character breaks scheduled throughout the day. PJ Masks is an animated preschool series that can be streamed on Disney+ and Netflix. The show, which first premiered in 2015, follows young superheroes Catboy, Owlette, and Gekko as they solve mysteries, work as a team, and model problem-solving skills for young viewers.
