Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a single-family home fire on Beaver Terrace in Aspen Hill on Monday after multiple 911 callers reported a house and rear deck on fire shortly before 2:45 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire, and the blaze was brought under control, though the home sustained significant damage.
According to MCFRS, the fire originated from a vehicle fire in the driveway that extended into the structure of the house. Total damage is estimated at approximately $400,000, including $300,000 in structural damage and $100,000 in contents. Four adults, one child, and one dog were displaced as a result of the fire. No injuries were reported, and about 85 firefighters responded while working in extremely cold conditions.
The incident remains under investigation.
