Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to multiple traffic incidents involving pedestrians Friday morning amid heavy rain, poor visibility, and worsening weather conditions across the region.
In Silver Spring, MCFRS responded to a pedestrian collision on northbound Georgia Avenue near Silver Spring Avenue. One adult was transported to a hospital as a Priority 2 trauma patient, and some lanes were temporarily blocked during the response.
MCPD Update: 3D Officers dispatched at 6:12 a.m. to Georgia Ave. and Silver Spring Ave. for a collision involving a vehicle and an adult female pedestrian. The striking vehicle remained on scene. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
In Germantown, MCFRS responded to a pedestrian collision on Henderson Corner Road near Seneca Crossing Drive, where some lanes were blocked as crews operated at the scene. Details on injuries from the Germantown incident were not immediately available.
The incidents occurred as the county experienced heavy rain and reduced visibility, with officials also warning of strong winds later in the day.
