Two Dogs Die in Saturday House Fire

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, to a house fire in the 5500 block of Namakagan Road in Bethesda.

According to MCFRS spokesperson David Pazos, firefighters arrived to find the home filled with smoke and located a fire in the ceiling of the first floor of the one-story residence. No occupants were home at the time of the fire. Two dogs were removed from the house, and crews made aggressive efforts to revive them, but both animals died due to smoke exposure. Traffic was temporarily diverted in the area while crews worked on the scene.

We will provide an update if additional verified information becomes available.
