$50,000 Winning Powerball Ticket Sold at Maryland 7-Eleven

Wednesday’s Christmas Eve Powerball drawing ended a record-breaking jackpot run and produced more than 136,000 winning tickets in Maryland, including a $100,000 winner in Annapolis, a $50,000 winning ticket sold at a 7-Eleven on Frederick Road in Germantown, and a $50,000 sold at the Safeway in Wheaton. “A Powerball jackpot run that lasted more than three months came to an end on Christmas Eve as a ticket sold in Arkansas won the second-largest prize in the game’s history.

The jackpot had been advertised at an estimated annuity value of $1.7 billion with an estimated cash option of $781.3 million. But final ticket sales prior to Wednesday night’s drawing pushed the annuity value to $1.817 billion with a cash option of $834.9 million. Powerball’s largest jackpot of $2.040 billion was won in November 2022 on a ticket sold in California.

FIVE BIG WINS ON WEDNESDAY IN MARYLAND: In Maryland, the Christmas Eve Powerball drawing produced more than 136,000 winning tickets with prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000. The highlight was a $100,000 prize on a ticket sold at Dash In, located at 2575 Riva Road in Annapolis. There were also four $50,000 prizes in Wednesday’s drawing on tickets sold at the following locations:

  • Royal Farms at 8268 Lark Brown Drive in Elkridge
  • 7-Eleven at 20510 Frederick Road in Germantown
  • Safeway at 815 East Main Street in Middletown
  • Safeway at 11201 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton

WRAPPING UP THE JACKPOT RUN:  $11.3 MILLION IN MARYLAND PRIZES: During the jackpot run (from Sept. 7 through Dec. 24) Powerball players in Maryland won $11.3 million in prizes, including 29 tickets that won $50,000 or more:

  • Two prizes of $1 million on tickets sold in Clinton and Lanham
  • One prize of $500,000 on a ticket sold in Upper Marlboro
  • Two prizes of $150,000 on tickets sold in Accokeek and Hughesville
  • One prize of $100,000 on a ticket sold in Annapolis
  • 23 prizes of $50,000 on tickets sold in Annapolis, Baltimore (3), Bel Air, Belcamp, Bowie, Clements, Elkridge, Frederick, Germantown, Gwynn Oak, Hagerstown, Hanover, Middletown, Morningside, Reisterstown, Silver Spring (2), Stevensville, Wheaton, White Plains (2)”
