Free Lyft Rides Offered During Super Bowl to Prevent Drunk Driving

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP), a local nonprofit, announced that it will again offer free rides during Super Bowl weekend to help reduce impaired driving across the Washington metropolitan area.

The program will operate from 8pm on Sunday, February 8, through4 am on Monday, February 9, a period that traffic safety data show carries an elevated risk of alcohol-related crashes. During the eight-hour window, adults age 21 and older who have been drinking can use the Lyft app and enter a promotional code to receive a free ride home valued up to $15.

WRAP said the program will be available throughout the region, including the District of Columbia, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland, and multiple jurisdictions in Northern Virginia, and is supported by public agencies and private sponsors as part of ongoing efforts to discourage drunk driving during major holidays and events.
