The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) announced the selection of SRI International to develop a new countywide Economic Development Strategic Plan for Montgomery County.
The plan is intended to provide a framework to guide economic growth and competitiveness, building on existing strengths while addressing issues related to innovation, workforce development, industry expansion, and inclusive opportunity.
MCEDC said SRI International was chosen following a competitive request for proposals and evaluation process that included proposal reviews and finalist presentations. Work on the strategic plan is expected to begin immediately, with a draft scheduled to be delivered to Marc Elrich by July 31, 2026, and later submitted to the Montgomery County Council for consideration in early 2027. The planning process will include engagement with businesses, educational institutions, workforce partners, and community organizations across the county.
