Registration is open through Tuesday, February 17, or until capacity is reached, for the 2026 TERRIFIC Challenge, a program that provides free refurbished bicycles and helmets to eligible students in grades 1 through 5 in Rockville.
According to the City of Rockville, the initiative recognizes children who demonstrate values such as trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, and community involvement. Participants must complete at least six of 16 approved service activities, including volunteering, helping neighbors, or supporting school improvement efforts, to qualify for a bicycle and helmet.
Because the number of bicycles is limited, preregistration is required, and selected families will receive instructions on how to document completed activities. Additional program details will be sent to participants by email on March 2. The program also accepts donated bicycles, which are refurbished and distributed to students who complete the challenge.
“For questions or more information, call 240-314-8620 or email [email protected]. Details are also available at rockvillemd.gov/terrificbikes. The program also accepts bicycle donations. Donated bikes are refurbished and awarded to participating students. To donate a bicycle, contact Rockville Bike Hub at [email protected] or visit rockvillebikehub.org.”
