The Montgomery County Council will meet on Monday, February 9, beginning at 11:30 am, to receive an update on state legislative activity from the Office of Intergovernmental Relations and to review state and local legislation.
The Council will also hold hybrid public hearings at 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm on the Fiscal Year 2027 Capital Budget and the Fiscal Year 2027–2032 Capital Improvements Program. Because 2026 is a full review year, all proposed capital projects will be examined as part of the biennial process, with final approval required by June 1.
Earlier in the day, the joint Health and Human Services and Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committees will review two proposed special appropriations. One measure would provide $1 million to support Department of Health and Human Services programs, including senior nutrition, homecare services, and minority health initiatives, in response to federal funding reductions. The committees will also consider a $100,000 appropriation for the Resident and Community Gardening Grant Program, which supports local food production through partnerships with community organizations and is scheduled to launch in spring 2026.
