Flavor Hive, the viral halal fusion restaurant co-founded by local social media star Shihan Chowdhury and business partner Amgd Gende, will officially open its first Maryland location on Thursday, February 12, in Rockville.
Chowdhury, known online as “Chilipeppercooks,” is a Montgomery County native and graduate of Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, making the opening a hometown milestone for the fast-growing brand.
The restaurant is located at 5568 Randolph Road in the Montrose Shopping Center, in the approximately 2,000-square-foot space previously occupied by Shouk, next to MOM’s Organic Market.
Flavor Hive is best known for its signature “walking chips bag” concept, which allows customers to bring their own bag of chips and have it filled with halal proteins such as chicken, ground beef, lamb gyro, or falafel, along with toppings and sauces. For guests who do not bring their own chips, the restaurant offers house-made potato chips cooked in avocado oil. Co-owner Drew Kellogg says all recipes are prepared using avocado oil.
In addition to walking chips, the menu includes rice bowls, salad bowls, loaded fries, pita pouches, quesadillas, and other options. Beverage offerings feature specialty sodas and flavored lemonades.
The restaurant also offers a “bring your own treat” dessert option, allowing customers to mix items such as candy, cookies, or chocolate into ice cream for a custom-made dessert.
