The Montgomery County Commission on Aging has recognized three local organizations with the 2025 Austin Heyman Community for a Lifetime Award, honoring their work in supporting older adults across the county.
The award, named after longtime advocate Austin Heyman, highlights efforts that help ensure Montgomery County remains an inclusive and supportive community for residents of all ages. Established under the Older Americans Act, the Commission advises county leaders on issues affecting older adults and selects honorees based on their sustained commitment to promoting independence, dignity, and access to services.
This year’s recipients include Montgomery Connects for its work expanding digital access and literacy, Holiday Park Seniors, Inc. for supporting programs and social engagement for adults age 55 and older, and Maryland Senior Olympics for promoting health and wellness through inclusive athletic activities. County Executive Marc Elrich said the honorees reflect the county’s focus on helping residents age with independence and strong community connections. Officials noted that the awards also recognize the broader network of organizations working to support Montgomery County’s growing older adult population.
