A 6-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon after a reported shooting inside a townhome in Montgomery Village.
At approximately 2:45 pm, Montgomery County Department of Police 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel were dispatched to the 10100 block of Maple Leaf Drive. First responders entered the residence and located the child with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the child was inside the home with one adult at the time of the incident. The Major Crimes Division is investigating, and officials stated that no foul play is suspected at this time. All information remains preliminary, and a news release will be issued when additional details, including the child’s identity, become available.
