The Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division is investigating the death of a 6-year-old boy in Montgomery Village following a shooting inside a townhome.
On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at approximately 2:45 pm, 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the 10100 block of Maple Leaf Drive for a reported shooting. First responders found Lascelle Lee IV suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face. Life-saving efforts were provided, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the child was inside the residence with one adult at the time of the incident, and the adult called 9-1-1. Preliminary findings indicate the handgun involved was legally registered, and investigators have stated that no foul play is suspected. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not released additional details at this time.
