A Clarksburg woman won $158,107 on a $5 progressive jackpot ticket purchased February 16 at the Harris Teeter located at 22700 Sweet Shrub Drive, according to the Maryland Lottery. The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
According to the Maryland Lottery, the woman, who said she frequently buys tickets after work, initially did not realize the size of her prize when she scanned the ticket and saw she was a winner. After a cashier confirmed the ticket but did not note the amount, she later visited another retailer who pointed out that she had matched the progressive jackpot number and that the $158,107 prize was printed directly on the ticket. The winner said she was too anxious to sleep that night and visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore the next day to claim her prize. She plans to use the winnings to pay off expenses and place the remainder in savings. The Chili Pepper Payout game has 15 progressive jackpots remaining, with the jackpot resetting to $40,000 and increasing with each non-jackpot ticket sold.
