Two Maryland Men Charged After Police Discover Ghost Guns and Explosive Device

Maryland State Police arrested two men from Bowie after responding to a firearms complaint at a residence in Cresaptown near Cumberland on February 19.

Authorities identified the suspects as Darnell Demond Levy Jr., 21, and Paul Thomas Baylor III, 21, who were charged with multiple firearm-related offenses, including possession of unserialized firearms, carrying a loaded handgun, and reckless endangerment. Both men are being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center, and officials said additional charges are expected.

Police said troopers heard a gunshot while arriving at the scene and later recovered a firearm outside the home before conducting a search warrant. Investigators seized five ghost guns, more than 600 rounds of ammunition, and a 3D printer that was producing a firearm component, as well as an improvised explosive device that was confirmed to be live by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and safely removed. Additional law enforcement units assisted at the scene, and officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
