More than 200 industry professionals attended the Annual Awards Gala hosted by the Professional Remodeling Organization (PRO) on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the DoubleTree Hotel Gaithersburg. The event recognized leadership and achievement within the remodeling industry and highlighted workforce development efforts in Montgomery County.
During the ceremony, Nicole Chang, a junior at Walter Johnson High School and a participant in a construction and architecture training program supported by Montgomery County Public Schools, received PRO’s first “Rising Star” Award. The new award is intended to recognize students demonstrating early achievement and interest in the building and design fields.
Chang was recognized for her participation in architecture-related coursework and for her performance at a local SkillsUSA competition held at Thomas Edison High School of Technology, where she earned top honors for a design project. In brief remarks, Chang said the award provided opportunities for students to engage with professionals in the industry.
PRO officials also highlighted ongoing collaboration between the organization and student training programs. Workforce Development Committee Chair Danial Carrero, past president Rob Medley, and member Stephen Gordon have served on advisory boards supporting career and technical education initiatives.
As part of its partnership with local education programs, PRO announced plans to provide an annual $1,000 award to a student recipient and to distribute approximately $3,600 in scholarships this spring to eligible students from Seneca Valley High School and Thomas Edison High School of Technology. Officials said the funding is intended to support students pursuing careers in construction, design, and related trades.
