Rockville entrepreneurs Tiffany and Chris McCasland, co-founders of The Chair Blanket, are scheduled to appear on Shark Tank on March 4 at 10pm on ABC. The couple will pitch their outdoor lifestyle product, which launched in fall 2024 and features a dual-sided design with a waterproof exterior and fleece lining intended to keep outdoor chairs dry and users warm.
The product is sold online and through major retail platforms. To mark the episode, the founders plan to host a public watch party at their family-owned restaurant, Quincy’s Potomac Bar and Grille, bringing together supporters from across the Rockville and Montgomery County community.
Chris McCasland, a Montgomery County native who grew up in Germantown and attended local schools including Daly Elementary, Neelsville Middle School, and Watkins Mill High School, previously co-founded City Bonfires, a portable fire pit company that gained national attention during the pandemic. Launched with business partner Michael Opalski, City Bonfires began as a garage-based startup and grew into a national brand, selling more than 1.5 million units and employing local residents. The company focuses on compact, easy-to-use fire pits designed for camping, tailgating, and backyard gatherings.
McCasland has credited Montgomery County’s business community and local mentors for helping shape his entrepreneurial path. City Bonfires’ growth was driven in part by digital marketing and strong online engagement, with its origin story generating hundreds of millions of views across social media platforms. As he expands into new ventures such as The Chair Blanket™, McCasland has said he remains committed to innovation, community involvement, and encouraging other local entrepreneurs to leverage networks and start small while building sustainable businesses.
