Montgomery County is reminding residents that the county’s minimum wage will increase on July 1 to reflect the region’s inflation rate, as required by local law.
For large employers with 51 or more employees, the minimum wage will rise by 35 cents to $18.00 per hour. Mid-size employers with 11 to 50 employees will see the rate increase by 50 cents to $16.50 per hour, while small employers with 10 or fewer employees will increase by 45 cents to $15.95 per hour.
The increases are based on a 2.0 percent rise in the consumer price index for the Washington, DC-Arlington-Alexandria region in 2025 and are intended to keep wages aligned with inflation. County officials say the adjustment will result in higher earnings for workers, with employees of large employers earning about $728 more annually if working full time, mid-size employer workers earning about $936 more, and small employer workers earning about $1,040 more. The wage adjustments stem from a 2017 county law that requires the minimum wage to be recalculated each year based on inflation.
