Montgomery County Councilmember Evan Glass will hold a press conference on Monday, March 2 at 12:30 pm to announce the introduction of new legislation called the ICE Out Act.
The proposed bill would prohibit privately owned immigration detention facilities from operating in Montgomery County.
Glass will be joined by other councilmembers, representatives from We Are CASA, and immigrant advocates at the Montgomery County Council Office Building in Rockville. According to the announcement, the legislation is intended to prevent private immigration detention centers from being established locally and to signal the county’s opposition to such facilities.
