A Montgomery Village man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last year.
In the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, 21-year-old Demari Brown entered the guilty plea before Judge Debra Dwyer for the killing of 20-year-old Henry Krishawn Gilbert of Clarksburg. Brown faces the possibility of life in prison, with sentencing scheduled for July 27, 2026, at 9:30 am.
The case stems from an April 26, 2025 incident on Brookridge Court in Montgomery Village that was initially reported as a vehicle crash. According to investigators with the Montgomery County Police Department Homicide Unit, officers responded around 11:51 am for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a townhouse. When officers arrived, they found Gilbert in the driver’s seat of a green Honda Civic with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later ruled the death a homicide.
Brown and co-defendant Jorden Hungerford, 20, were later arrested and charged with murder and related offenses following the police investigation. Hungerford is scheduled to go to trial on May 4, 2026. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Teresa Casafranca and Lauren Turner.
