A man was killed and a woman was critically injured following a two-vehicle collision early Sunday morning near the intersection of Woodfield Road and Glendalough Road in Gaithersburg.
According to police, 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene at approximately 1:27 am on Sunday, March 15. The preliminary investigation indicates that a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling northbound on Woodfield Road when, for reasons still under investigation, it collided with a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The adult male driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. The adult female driver of the Jeep was transported to an area hospital in critical but stable condition.
Montgomery County Police said the Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the fatal crash. Officials said a news release with additional details, including the identity of the deceased driver, will be released after next of kin has been notified.
