Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced that a Crofton woman has pleaded guilty to two felony theft schemes in Anne Arundel County involving a combined total of $185,296.28.
According to prosecutors, Carolyn Rae Aldridge, 56, stole 96 checks totaling $173,004.43 from her employer, American Builders Corporation, between August 2017 and January 2021 while working as an office manager. In a separate scheme between January 2020 and February 2021, she stole an additional 13 checks totaling $12,291.85 from the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund while working in its fiscal department. Authorities said the stolen checks were deposited into her personal bank account.
A grand jury indicted Aldridge in June 2025, and she is scheduled to be sentenced on August 11, 2026.
