Montgomery County Council to Hold Public Hearings on $8B Budget Proposal

The Montgomery County Council will hold five public hearings on April 7, 8, and 9 at the Montgomery County Council Office Building, located at 100 Maryland Avenue in Rockville, to gather community input on the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 operating budget.

Hearings will take place at 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm on April 7 and 8, and at 1:30 pm on April 9, with options for residents to participate in person, virtually, or by submitting written, audio, or video testimony. The budget, proposed by County Executive Marc Elrich on March 13, exceeds $8 billion and will be reviewed by the Council over the coming weeks.

The Council is expected to adopt the final budget in late May, with implementation beginning July 1. Officials said the process will involve balancing funding for priorities such as education, public safety, and essential services while addressing financial constraints, and encouraged residents to provide feedback throughout the review process.
