WSSC is continuing to work on reports of a collapsed 30-inch sewer main on Dawon Farm Rd. in Germantown, with crews operating around the clock as repairs move into their second day.
Approximately 1,000 feet of temporary bypass piping is being installed and fused together to divert wastewater around the damaged section, with bypass pumping expected to become operational later today, March 20.
Officials said significant progress has been made over the past 26 hours, including coordination with utility crews to relocate two Verizon poles and a Washington Gas main to allow repair work to continue. WSSC said drinking water service has not been impacted as crews work to restore the sewer line.
