Update by MCPL: “This Sunday’s Hindi language event will not be taking place. Due to significant interest from the community, Montgomery County Public Libraries is reimagining how it celebrates the Hindi-speaking community and new additions to its collection, with a focus on ensuring an inclusive and community-centered approach. We appreciate the generosity of the local community who donated funds for the collection, and we look forward to celebrating with them.”
The Montgomery County Public Libraries will host a free event titled “Many Languages, One Library: Celebrating Hindi” on Sunday, April 12 from 2 pm to 3 pm at the Germantown Library.
The event will mark the unveiling of a new Hindi-language collection featuring more than 160 titles for children, teens, and adults as part of the library system’s expanding World Language offerings.
The program will include remarks from local officials and community partners, followed by the official unveiling of the collection. The expansion was supported by several community organizations and is intended to provide greater access to resources for Hindi-speaking residents while reflecting the county’s diverse population.
