A GoFundMe has been launched to support Raphaela Weinsweig, who was critically injured in a crash earlier this month near Laytonsville. According to her family, Weinsweig remains in a coma after being struck head-on by a drunk driver and has already undergone multiple surgeries, with additional procedures expected as she begins what is anticipated to be a long recovery.
The collision occurred in the early morning hours of March 15 near Woodfield Road and Glendalough Road. Montgomery County Police said a Ford F-150 traveling northbound collided with a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee. The male driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female driver of the Jeep, identified by family as Weinsweig, was transported to a hospital in critical but stable condition. The Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the incident.
Family members said the fundraiser is intended to help cover medical expenses and provide support as Weinsweig recovers and works toward rebuilding her life. They also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of community support, noting that donations, messages, and shares have helped bring hope during a difficult time.
