Council to Hold Public Hearings on $8B FY27 Budget April 7-9

The Montgomery County Council will hold five public hearings on April 7, April 8, and April 9 at the County Council Office Building in Rockville regarding the County’s Fiscal Year 2027 Operating Budget, with residents expected to provide input on budget priorities and overall spending.

County Executive Marc Elrich presented his recommended budget on March 13, and the Council will review the proposal over the next two months before adopting a final budget in late May, which will take effect on July 1.

Council President Natali Fani-González said the budget process will involve balancing increasing community needs with financial constraints while maintaining funding for education, public safety, and essential services. Residents can testify in person or virtually, or submit written, audio, or video testimony through the Council’s website, with hearings also broadcast on County Cable Montgomery and online platforms.
