The City of Gaithersburg and the Rotary Club will host the annual “Flags For Our Heroes” display at Bohrer Park over Memorial Day weekend, featuring 756 American flags honoring military members and other individuals recognized by sponsors.
The display will be open to the public from Friday, May 22 through the morning of Monday, May 25, with an inauguration ceremony scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 am that will include local officials and patriotic entertainment.
Additional events include a peace ceremony at the park’s Peace Pole following the opening program and a Flag Retirement Ceremony led by Scouts at dusk on Sunday, May 24 for the proper disposal of worn flags. The display will be illuminated at night and monitored by Scouts, and all events are free to attend.
