Montgomery Parks announced that trails in and around Germantown have earned national recognition from International Mountain Bicycling Association, which designated Germantown as a 2026 IMBA Trail Town.
The designation highlights communities that demonstrate strong trail infrastructure, funding support, active local organizations, and long-term stewardship, reflecting the role trails play in supporting recreation, quality of life, and local economies. Officials noted that trails remain one of the most popular park amenities and contribute to both tourism and community well-being.
Germantown’s trail network includes destinations such as the South Germantown Bike Park, Ten Mile Creek Trail, Hoyles Mill Trail, and the Powerline Trail, with access to more than 200 miles of natural surface trails maintained through partnerships with groups including the Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The designation places Germantown among a national network of 28 Trail Towns recognized for promoting outdoor recreation and community engagement.
