Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) will open registration on Sunday, April 12, for its annual limited-availability whiskey lotteries, giving eligible residents a chance to purchase rare and highly sought-after bottles.
More than 900 bottles are expected to be released, including limited quantities of Weller Millennium, Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year, and Michter’s 20 Year. Two lotteries will be held, one open to Maryland residents and another exclusively for Montgomery County residents, with registration running through Saturday, April 18 and winners announced April 22. Residents can register and view available bottles on the ABS website at montgomerycountymd.gov/abs.
Selected winners will be able to purchase their bottles between April 25 and May 23 at designated stores, with unclaimed bottles forfeited after the deadline. A third concurrent lottery will be available for licensed establishments to expand access to these spirits by the glass. ABS officials say the lottery system ensures fair access and transparent pricing, while proceeds from sales help support County services through contributions to the general fund.
