According to the Maryland Lottery, a Takoma Park man won a $100,000 top prize on a scratch-off ticket purchased during a late-night visit to the 7-Eleven at 9151 Riggs Road in Adelphi.
The player, who regularly buys scratch-offs, said he realized the ticket was a winner after playing multiple games and later confirmed the prize using the Maryland Lottery app.
The winner, a father of four, claimed the prize approximately two weeks later. He told Lottery officials he plans to use the funds to purchase a home in Guatemala and assist family and friends. The retailer that sold the ticket will receive a $1,000 bonus. The “$100,000 Crossword” game launched in August 2025 with nine top prizes, two of which remain unclaimed.
